Wait no more!

Remember the last time you wanted to show your gratitude to someone but paused at that moment and never got a chance back. Or when someone brought a smile to your face but you let the moment pass without reciprocating. Maybe someone hurt you in the past and sought forgiveness, but you still carry the pain of that hurt in your heart because you chose that they don’t deserve your forgiveness. It may also happen that you yourself are waiting to make that apology but don’t have the courage or the perfect moment to do that.

These are regular occurrences in our busy lives and believe it or not, we don’t deliberately miss saying those magical words of thank you, sorry or I forgive you. We just sincerely believe there is still time, a lot of time that we are left with, on our journey on Earth. We sincerely believe tomorrow will be kinder and easier for us, and that we will find that magical moment that will help make that long pending phone call or show our gratitude or say our apologies to the ones we had hurt. Our presents just seem too busy, with so much asking for our attention that we decide, this stuff ought to wait, right. Don’t you wonder, if you didn’t have the time for them yesterday, how will you have the time tomorrow?

Most likely you wouldn’t. Our moments on this Earth are limited, we are losing them one by one. The fast pace of our lives is faster than yesterday, not any better. Your tomorrow starts today. Wouldn’t it be better to just go ahead and bring a smile to someone’s face and show that kindness? Because you know, small acts of kindness, sometimes, become a lifetime memory for others. You might have forgotten your good deeds but others might be cherishing them fondly in their hearts, even carrying it like a light in their moments of darkness. Your goodness is infectious. One small good act you did, had the power to spark a series of good acts. Keep the chain going. Wait no more. Remember, “I shall pass through this world but once. Any good therefore that I can do or any kindness that I can show to any human being, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.”- Stephen Grellet.

And wait no more to ask for forgiveness and to forgive everyone around you. Maybe they don’t still deserve your forgiveness, but you deserve to set yourself free. It unburdens the painful weight you were carrying around all this while and brings peace into your heart. “Tolerance comes of age. I see no fault committed that I myself could not have committed at some time or other”- Johann Wolfgang. You could have been in their place too, so be kind. Let it go.

And wait no more to forgive yourself. It surely is not easy but it’s necessary for the inner healing to happen. Forgive yourself for not knowing any better that time and for learning the lesson on the way. Forgive because, at that moment, you needed to be who you are now. Forgiving yourself should come first. “Release the need to replay a negative situation over and over again in your mind. Don’t become a hostage to your past by always reviewing and reliving your mistakes. Don’t remind yourself of what should have, could have, or would have been. Release it and let it go. Move on.”-Les Brown.

We may or may not have the time tomorrow to say what is deep in our hearts, so let’s try to make this world a little more beautiful place today and let this planet shine a little more because we walked here. Even if for a very short while. Wish you all the luck on this journey we call life.
